Charles Franklin Hyde
Charles F. Hyde, Lt. Col. USAF retired, 73, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 in
Lake Mary, Florida. He was born in Manson, Iowa, May 6, 1932, graduated from
Roosevelt Military Academy in Illinois, June 1950 and went on to earn his pilots
wings for the USAF where he flew Strategic Air Command at Davis Monthan AFB,
Tucson, AZ and Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, TX. He served his country in Vietnam.
He was awarded several Air Medals "For Meritorious Achievement While
Participating In Aerial Flight." Charles came to Brevard County stationed at
PAFB flying the C-135’s in 1966, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the VFW
post #4643, The Order of the Daedalians (National Fraternity of Military
Pilots), past commander of the American Legion #200, and Past President of the
Florida Space Coast Bowling Association.
Mr. Hyde is survived by his children, Diane M. Hyde-Juvani of Lake Mary, Fl.,
Charles F. Hyde, II. of Satellite Beach, Terry L. (Lorraine) Hyde of Defuniak
Springs., FL, and David W. (Jackie) Hyde of Pembrooke Pines, FL; grandchildren,
Jesse (Josie) Velez, Brandon Juvani, Amber, Ryan, Tiffany, Tarie, Telah, Ashley
and Aaron Hyde, great grandchild Leila Velez and his sister Marilyn Ziegel of
Manson, Ia. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at
Beach Funeral Home East Chapel, Indian Harbour Beach. Funeral Services will be
held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Patrick AFB Chapel II. Interment
will follow to Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, with full military honors.
